National Participations and Collateral Events

The 12th International Architecture Exhibition will also present, as is traditional, the National Participations, with their own exhibitions in the Pavilions at the Giardini, and in the historic city centre of Venice. This edition will also include selected collateral events, presented by international entities and institutions, which will present their exhibitions and initiatives in Venice concurrently with the 12th Exhibition.

Biennale Architecture

From the Strada Novissima to the 12th Exhibition

The Architecture section of the Biennale was born in 1980 with the Strada Novissima exhibition space at the Arsenale Corderie, alongside the first International Architecture Exhibition directed by Paolo Portoghesi. Since then 11  exhibitions were presented, the last one of which (Out There: Architecture Beyond Building, directed by Aaron Betsky) attracted more than 129,000 visitors.
