How the night activities have changed in Italy since the 60s

The new appointment with the Weekend Specials, part of the exhibition Monditalia, is titled Notte Italiana and is presented by Edizioni ZERO.
Notte Italiana will explain how the night activities have changed in Italy since the 60s, a series of talks and meetings with researchers, architects, artistic directors, performers, DJs and PRs of the Italian clubbing scene and a series of film screening will be take place at the Stage D at Corderie of the Arsenale on August 30th and 31st.
Notte Italiana is also a brand new website of Edizioni ZERO which explore one of the main sections of the magazine: the night. Interviews, articles, images and mixes will anticipate the Weekend Special of Biennale Architettura 2014 on and will continue beyond as a meeting point for the night community.
The Weekend Specials, conceived as part of the exhibition Monditalia, will be programmed by different contributors, often the same as those in the permanent exhibition, and it will unfold in diverse formats: documentaries, workshops, lectures, debates, shows and performances, in the Arsenale’s Corderie. Weekend Specials animates the Arsenale on weekends, as counterpart to the program Freeport; both essential part of the Meetings on Architecture, organized by la Biennale di Venezia.

A day of meetings on the theme of the Notte Italiana (Italian Night).

Radical architecture and discotheques
Focus on Mach 2 projects by Superstudio and Space Electronic project by Gruppo 9999.
Piero Frassinelli, architect and archivist of Superstudio;
Carlo Caldini, architect of Gruppo 9999 and manager of Space Electronic;
Bruno Casini, expert on communication and on music related to Space Electronic;
Catharine Rossi, researcher at Kingston University in London specialized in Italian Avant-guardes, like Architettura Radicale;
Riccardo Benassi, artist and scholar of Superstudio’s work.

The mound, the pyramid and the district of Italian entertainment
The history of Romagnole Riviera where, between the 70s and the mid 90s, discotheques and djs system was the driving force of local economy.
Speaking about Romagnole Riviera’s night life:
Daniele Baldelli, dj of Baia degli angeli, the first club where people could party until sunrise;
Giovanni Tommaso Garattoni, architect of Aleph and Slego, both legendary rock-new wave clubs of Romagnole Riviera;
Pier Pierucci, art director of Slego and then of Cellophane, club into to the trance scene;
Demo Ciavatti, architect of Cocoricò;
Davide Nicolò, rare relations art advisor, general and press office manager;
Ricky Montanari, famous dj, from Rimini, witnessed the beginning of Italian House scene;
Maurizio Monti, art director;
Principe Maurice, key figure for Italian vocalists and Cocoricò’s performer;
Cirillo, legendary Cocoricò’s dj.

The diverse activities by Link Project in Bologna (1994-2004), first production center for visual arts, performances, music and clubbing, self-managed and not politically-oriented

The Meetings are open to the public visiting the 14th Exhibition in possession of a valid ticket.
Ticket price € 25,00 – Concessionary Ticket Price € 22/20 – Students/Under 26 € 15,00. Tickets are valid for one admission to the Arsenale and one to the Giardini.
