The 12th International Architecture Exhibition People meet in Architecture, directed by Kazuyo Sejima and organized by the Biennale di Venezia under the presidency of Paolo Baratta, opens packed with innovation and surprises and offers its visitors a completely new means of exploration and knowledge. iBiennale, the first iPad application dedicated to the Biennale, created in partnership with Marsilio Editori and Log607, is now available on the AppStore.
iBiennale opens up a completely new way of using the exhibition related content. All the texts and images in the 2010 catalogue, along with other exclusive material, can be dynamically explored in a simple, fluid operation that extends the connection possibilities and highlights the most interesting details. Users can access information on the works and artists following multidimensional links: browsing by name, place or category of subject and concept allows the information to be layered and acquired in a more personal way. Relations between works linked to the theme of the landscape can thus be identified, or consideration given to the correspondence between artists working in the same context.
Users are offered the exciting prospect of investigating the installations directly: virtual views and 360° image rotations allow a close and engrossing rapport with the installations exhibited. And even before arriving in Venice, iBiennale users can plan the route of their visit to the exhibitions at the Arsenale, the Giardini, in the city and outside. Selecting the preferred works and noting down ideas, visitors can enjoy a unique, personally created experience that takes their own personal needs into consideration. iBiennale is the first application dedicated to the Venice Biennale: the first step towards a process of innovation and digitalization that highlights the artistic and multimedia content and increases its potential use. Something more than what is offered by an Internet connection from a laptop, and decidedly more efficient than a net-book: this is iBiennale, the first iPad application for the Venice Biennale.
