La Biennale di Venezia, chaired by Paolo Baratta, organizes the fourth edition of the International Kids’ Carnival, titled Il Leon Musico/The Musical Lion. Experimentation, tradition and creativity. From Saturday 2 February to Tuesday 12 February 2013 in Venice at the Giardini (Central Pavilion, every day from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm) and at Ca’ Giustinian (exhibition 20 years of Masks and Costumes, from the collection of sketches from the ASAC, Portego, open 9:00 am to 8:00 pm), with free admission and activities, heated venues, Nursery, free transportation on the Biennale Vaporetto and Bus.
Participating on 15 January 2013 in the presentation of the 4th International Kids’ Carnival, The Musical Lion, in Venice in the headquarters of the Biennale at Ca’ Giustinian, were President Paolo Baratta and the Director of the Music Sector Ivan Fedele.
The International Kids’ Carnival is an important Educational project of la Biennale di Venezia, the purpose of which is to stimulate the creativity and the participation of young people with performances, exhibitions, workshops, mask and costume-making, encouraging the active engagement of the participants. All of the activities will be supervised by the Educational Team of the Biennale.
“Yet another step forward – stated President Baratta. The 4th International Kids’ Carnival will become more articulated, more complex and more fun all at the same time. The Director of the Music Sector of la Biennale Ivan Fedele will personally take charge to lead the children to meet the Musical Lion, to play with him, to experiment, to use colors, musical notes and sounds to build the most stimulating of experiences. We confirm our special attention to the younger generations and the importance we place in familiarity with the arts on the one hand, and creativity as dedicated play on the other. Carnival is an initiative that will harness the combined energy of many institutions and academies throughout the city: so far 110 schools have joined and we wish to express our gratitude to them all”.
In the wake of the success of the previous editions (18,233 visitors, 5,244 students enrolled in the workshops, 121 schools involved in 2012) the International Kids’ Carnival of la Biennale presents an even richer programme of activities in 2013, opening to Music as it already has to Dance, featured in previous years.
Participation in the 4th International Kids’ Carnival, The Musical Lion, has been confirmed by Germany, Great Britain, Romania, the United States and, participating for the very first time, Argentina, Maldives and the Bahamas. The Carnival of the Biennale has become a great international workshop on experimentation and creativity, which seeks to foster a debate on the involvement of young people in the world of art.
The 4th International Kids’ Carnival of la Biennale, The Musical Lion, will feature:

The ball of the beautiful bubbles
A musical happening organized by Maestro Claudio Ambrosini.
Overture of the Soaps
A concert for soap bubbles by and with Michele Cafaggi. An eccentric conductor will lead you into the fragile spherical world of soap bubbles for a “concert” where the unexpected is always just around the corner!
