As Collateral Awards it is meant the awards given to films or authorial personalities of the films presented in the different sections of the official selection of the 77th Venice International Film Festival and/or of the independent sections Giornate degli Autori and Settimana della Critica, promoted and organized autonomously by public or private non-profit subjects. The subjects promoting the awards, hence Promoters, must operate mainly operate in the fields of cinema, art and civil society, and cannot in any case be organizers of film festivals. In order to obtain the qualification of Collateral Award, the prize must receive the formal approval of La Biennale di Venezia. Once approved, the Promoters will be responsible for the realization of the award autonomously.

2. Award Application

The Promoters interested in proposing a Collateral Award to the 77th Venice International Film Festival must send their application, with the full documentation necessary for its evaluation by La Biennale di Venezia, to the email address segreteria.cinema@labiennale.org, by and no later than Friday 5th June 2020.

The documentation must include:

1. Letter on official letterhead of the Promoter of the award, signed by the legal representative of the Promoter and addressed to the President of La Biennale di Venezia and the Artistic Director of the Venice International Film Festival. The letter must indicate:
 - Presentation and details of the Promoter;
 - Object and motivation of the Award to be assigned;
 - Composition of the jury, specifying number, names and roles of its members.

2. Copy of these regulations, undersigned for acceptance by the legal representative of the Promoter.

La Biennale di Venezia will send the Promoter a written confirmation of the acceptance or rejection of the application. In case of non-acceptance, the decision is at the sole discretion of La Biennale di Venezia and does not entail the obligation of motivation.

3. Accreditation

For each juror of the approved Collateral Awards it is possible to request a Jury Blu Accreditation. The number of jurors must be limited and generally not over 5 people. The accreditation has a cost of € 90 and the request must be sent by the Promoter directly, by and no later than Friday 31st July 2020, with payment by and no later than Monday 10th August 2020. Afterwards, the Jury Blu Accreditation will be released at the cost of € 120. It is not possible to modify the number of jurors indicated in the official request. Any changes in the composition of the jury must be promptly communicated to the Secretariat of the Cinema Department for evaluation and approval by La Biennale di Venezia.

4. Promotion and communication

La Biennale di Venezia will communicate the selected Collateral Awards with its communication tools, and in particular through:
· the upload on its online press box, available for the Italian and International press, of press releases provided by the Promoters, that is one press release of presentation of the Collateral Award and one with its results;
· the spread of a press release with all the winners of the Collateral Awards at the end of the 77th Venice International Film Festival.

The Promoters whose applications have been accepted will as well be able to use the phrase “Collateral Award of the 77th Venice International Film Festival” in the promotional materials of their award.

It is forbidden:
- to use the lettering “77th Venice International Film Festival”, unless preceded by the expression “On the occasion of”.
- to use the logos of the 77th Venice International Film Festival and of La Biennale di Venezia. The communication activities of the Collateral Award can be activated only after the official communication of its approval by La Biennale di Venezia.
