Guide to new spaces and services at the Venice Film Festival

The Biennale has been behind a project to renew the logistic and organisational structures at the Venice Lido, in preparation for the 66th International Venice Film Festival.

In the space behind the Palazzo del Casinò, a new screening theatre will be erected with 450 seats, called Sala Perla 2, aimed at providing more space to the festival programme and destined for the films of the Settimana Internazionale della Critica (SIC) and the Giornate degli Autori.

The 66th Festival will have a new entrance for the public and staff, on the dockyard side of the Palazzo del Casinò. The traditional entrance of the Casinò will be renovated and renewed on the dockyard side, where accreditation services will be located.

In keeping with this significant reorganisation, the Sala Palalido will change its name to Sala Darsena, and be destined to screenings in the Orizzonti section – which will assume greater importance - with the addition of a red carpet to welcome the delegations.
