Donald Ranvaud (UK)

Donald Ranvaud founded «Framework Journal» in 1975 and taught at UK universities for 12 years. He wrote for «The Guardian», «La Repubblica», «MFB», and «Cahiers du Cinéma» among others. He directed items in C4 and RAIUno magazine programs, and co-directed Visioni private. As script editor (MEDIA 1) he read 6000 proposals and backed 320 in 18 months. Producing full time since 1989, he worked on Life on a String, Farewell my Concubine, Central do Brasil, Familia Rodante, Lavoura Arcaica, Madame Sata, City of God  and The Constant Gardener, with 12 Oscar nominations in total. As Buena Onda’s president since 2003, he continued to discover and nurture filmmakers, empowering them to access world markets. He set up joint ventures with Cinergia and with Puerto Rico Film Fund, then, after establishing La Fábrica, he created Artes Andes Americas, an institute for theater and cinema in Bolivia. Since early 2005 he focused on the central question for the future of a possible cinema. A cost effective distribution platform that becomes the new digital paradigm for the fruition of the cinema that matters.
