FROM WALT DISNEY TO GIUSEPPE VOLPI DI MISURATA - LETTERS
All sections »
The original handwritten letter, dated 1939, in which Walt Disney thanked the president of the Biennale, Giuseppe Volpi di Misurata, for the prize awarded to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In the closing lines Disney expressed the hope that his second feature-length animated film, Pinocchio, which was in production at the time, would be equally well received at the Venice Film Festival: it would never happen however, because 1939 was the last year before the outbreak of World War II in which American films would be included the programme.
