LETTER SENT BY AUDREY HEPBURN AND MEL FERRER - LETTERS
All sections »

The handwritten letter sent by Audrey Hepburn and her husband Mel Ferrer to decline the invitation to the Venice Film Festival in 1955, because they would be unable to spend a few extra days in Venice after the screening of “War and Peace” by King Vidor, in competition that year. Hepburn was in the cast, in the role of Natasha Rostova, along with Ferrer (Prince Andrei Bolkonsky), Henry Fonda (Pierre Bezukhov) and Vittorio Gassman (Anatole Kuragine).
