Outdoors

Opening oneself receptively to the flow of an interconnected world and enriching one’s artistic development by exploring other experiences is a fundamental point in the intentions of the Arsenale della Danza, which this year is taking its activities beyond Venice in a series of events under the name of Outdoors.

On 27 February 2010, Ismael Ivo will be at the Padiglione La Ronda in the Fortezza da Basso, Florence: the occasion will be the awarding of the Danzainfiera Prize – L’Italia che danza, which recognises the work done by the Dance sector of the Biennale di Venezia and its director, Ismael Ivo, in contributing to the development of dance and Italian culture in the world. In confirmation of this commitment, Ivo will present extracts from The Waste Land, together with some of the interpreters of the Arsenale della Danza – Valeria Galluccio, Stefano Roveda, and Ivelice Brown – who had already performed the piece last year.

On 13 and 14 March, three dancers from the Arsenale della Danza will be participating with the director, Ismael Ivo, in a workshop-performance together with other local dancers at the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia. Considered an example of pedagogical excellence, the Arsenale della Danza is invited to give a taste of the work effected in the Dance Marathon, a non-stop even with lessons, conferences and events dedicated to dance, created by Caroline Haenel in collaboration with the Pavia City Council’s Sport, Education and Culture Department.

On 16, 17 and 18 April, all the dancers of the Arsenale della Danza will be joining other local dancers for the choreographic residence lasting three days to be held in the foyer of the Teatro Verdi in Padua and in the Centro Culturale Altinate San Gaetano. The residence will end with a public session forming part of the Prospettiva Danza Teatro 2010, a series organised by the Culture Department of the Padua City Council under the artistic direction of Laura Pulin. Also part of Prospettiva Danza Teatro 2010 and in collaboration with the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, the Arsenale della Danza will be at the Bastione Alicorno, Padua, on 17 May to present an extract of the rehearsals for Aria, the show that will close the activities of the Arsenale della Danza and will open the 7th International Festival of Contemporary Dance.
