In the afternoons of Saturday 20th May, 3rd June and 17th June (3:00 pm to 7:15 pm), Biennale College – Dance 2017 will open the doors of the Sale d’Armi at the Arsenale venue to dance lovers and to the visitors of the 57th International Art Exhibition. This is to show the work in progress of the 15 young dancers selected by the director of the Dance department, Marie Chouinard.

The selected dancers for the Biennale College – Dance include Luana Battistelli, Georgia Bettens, Clara Cafiero, Sara Cavalieri, Lucrezia Gabrieli, Claire Gieringer, Caroline Loiseau, Luigi Luna, Giorgia Bernadette Maugeri, Mariangela Milano, Margherita Mattia, Danilo Smedile, Giulia Spinelli, Giulia Russo, and Madison Webber: they are taking part in an intensive 3-month class - from 4th April to 26th June -, an integrated training course (that includes the somatic approach) and performance techniques.

The public will be allowed to stand or stroll freely. On 20th May and 3rd June they will watch the preliminary work on Sider, an istallation/choreography by William Forsythe (2011); on 17th June the public will see some phases of the production that Benoît Lachambre is specially creating for the dancers of the Biennale College. Both shows will premiere on 26th June as part of the 11th International Festival of Contemporary Dance titled First Chapter.

The entrance ticket costs 5 euro and offers the chance to attend the Open Doors and to visit the Arsenale venue of the 57th International Art Exhibition starting from 3:00 pm; visitors of the exhibition already there will be allowed to attend the Open Doors by showing their entrance ticket to the Biennale Arte exhibition.

Biennale College was launched in 2013 by the President of the Biennale, Paolo Baratta. It is an innovative and integrated initiative that includes all the departments of the Biennale di Venezia - Cinema, Dance, Music, and Theatre - to support young talented artists offering them the chance to work alongside with masters for new creations.
