The new Board of Directors of the Biennale di Venezia met for the first time today at the headquarters at Ca’ Giustinian. Chaired by Paolo Baratta and composed of members Luigi Brugnaro (Vice-President, Mayor of Venice and President of Città metropolitana), Luca Zaia (President of the Regione Veneto), and Gianluca Comin (appointed by the Minister for the Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism), the Board will remain in office for the four-year term 2016-2019.
During the meeting, in which the procedures to instate the Board were completed, dr. Andrea Del Mercato was confirmed as General Director.
After expressing his most heartfelt thanks to the Minister for the Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, Dario Franceschini, for his trust in him, President Baratta stated: “Obviously, my primary objective will be to demonstrate that continuity is in the full interest of the institution that I chair. I would also like to thank the Parliamentary Commissions and their presidents”.
The Board of Directors, in welcoming the new member of the Board dr. Gianluca Comin, appointed by the Minister, expressed its most sincere thanks to the outgoing member dr. Adriano Rasi Caldogno, for the dedication and professionalism he brought to his term on the Board of Directors.
