Claudio Masenza (selection committee)
Claudio Masenza (Rome, 1945) has been the author of many film programs for RAI (Cinema!, Cinema è…, Effetto cinema) and television monographs (Hitchcock – Il brivido del genio; Marilyn – L’ultima verità; Hollywood, i ribelli : Montgomery Clift, Marlon Brando, James Dean...). With Serena Dandini he wrote and hosted Producer, the movie game show for Raitre. He worked for Raitre for three years as the author of Parla con me. He has been a curator for the RomaEuropa film series and writes for Ciak and Il Venerdì. He has been on the Selection Committee of the Venice Film Festival since 2004.
Alberto Pezzotta (selection committee)
Alberto Pezzotta (Milan 1965) is now recognized as one of the more important new critics. He began to write reviews in 1984. As a film critic, he has collaborated with Il Corriere della Sera, Ciak, Segnocinema, with the film dictionary Il Mereghetti and the most important encyclopedias. He has been the curator of retrospectives for several Italian festivals. He has written ten books, including La critica cinematografica (Carocci), Mario Bava and Clint Eastwood (Il Castoro), Regia: Damiano Damiani (Cec), Tutto il cinema di Hong Kong (Baldini&Castoldi). He has translated many novels from the English and the French.
Maria Barbieri (consultant/correspondent: China)
Maria Barbieri (1956) has lived and worked in China since the early Eighties. Currently a resident of Shanghai, she is the owner of the Sinema Ltd. company, which offers consulting services to the film and television industry. She is the founder of a film club specialized in projecting Chinese films for the foreign community in Shanghai. She collaborates with Filmitalia and with RAI Trade to promote Italian film in China.
Luciano Barisone (consultant: South and Central America)
Luciano Barisone, a force behind film clubs, a journalist and film critic, founded Panoramiche magazine, which he still directs, in 1990. He is the editor of monographs on Catherine Breillat, Robert Guèdiguian, Clint Eastwood, Naomi Kawase, Nicolas Philibert, and Sydney Pollack. Since 1985 he has been responsible for the film section of Saison Culturelle, organized by the autonomous region of Valle d’Aosta (Italy). Since 1997 he has collaborated with many international film festivals. In 2002 he created the Alba International Film Festival, which he directed until 2007. In 2008 he became director of the Festival dei Popoli in Florence.
Dora Bouchoucha (consultant/correspondent: Africa and the Arab world)
Dora Bouchoucha, a producer and organizer of film culture. Born in Tunisia, she has played a key role in the production and promotion of many Arab and African films starting in 1994. She has produced and co-produced documentaries, short and feature films both in Tunisia and abroad, founding the Tunisian production company Nomadis Image in 1995. She has organized film markets and project workshops. She has been actively involved in the Carthage International Film Festival in Tunisia. She has been a member of the panel in many international film festivals and is a permanent member of the board of the “CineMart” market at the International Film Festival at Rotterdam. She is also head of studies and partner of Media Film Development (MFD), a European Union-financed training programme in Morocco.
Cecilia Cossio (consultant: India)
She was research scholar for Hindi language and literature at the Department of Eurasian Studies at Ca’ Foscari from 1981 to 2006. For over twenty years she has worked on Hindi and Indian film and is responsible for the India section of the AsiaMedia website. Her publications include: Il settimo cavallo del sole: un romanzo, un film, una lunga storia (1995); Cinema hindi degli anni cinquanta: un’introduzione (1998); L’amor profano ovvero la cortigiana nel cinema hindi (1999); Cinema in India. Lo strano caso di Shashi Kapu (2005).
Fabio Fumagalli (consultant/correspondent: Austria, Benelux, Portugal, Switzerland)
Fabio Fumagalli, born in Lugano in 1937, film critic, member of the Swiss Association of Film Journalists. He has collaborated with La Gazzetta Ticinese, Radio della Svizzera Italiana, the weekly magazine Azione, Televisione della Svizzera italiana. In 1980 he became a member of the Artistic and Executive Commissions of the Locarno International Film Festival. He was responsible for the programming and the cultural and organizational orientation of the festival through the 2000 edition. Since 1996 he has been a member of the Cantonal Cultural Commission, where (as President of the Sub-commission) he represents the effort to sustain quality films.
