Biennale College Internship

A learning experience on the field, organized as a curriculum-required internship for undergraduate or graduate students who wish to enrich their training.
Check out the opportunities in 2022.

The call is reserved for under 30 university students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme of a University based in Italy.

Only one application per student may be submitted: applicants must therefore choose only one internship per term.

Visual Art Department

Area – Visual Art
Length of internship: 3 months
Period: from 1 February 2022 to 30 April 2022

Educational goals: to assist and support the activities for the preparation, organization and realization of the 59th International Art Exhibition and sections (Main Exhibition, National Participations, Collateral Events); to assist and support the activities during the pre-opening days.

Essential requisites
University course of study: Humanities, Architecture
Language skills: Italian level C1, English level B2
Computer skills: MS Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite programmes (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat)

Administration, Finance, Management, Sponsorship and Promotion

Area – Educational and Promotion

Length of internship: 3 months
Period: from 1 February 2022 to 30 April 2022
Educational goals: to assist in the development of a web-marketing and promotion plan for the 59th International Art Exhibition.

Essential requisites
University course of study: Communication and Marketing, Economics for the Cultural Heritage, Economics and Management, Dams (Performing Arts), Film Studies, Foreign Language and Literature, Cultural Mediation
Language skills: Italian level C1, English level B2
Computer skills: MS Office Suite and excellent knowledge of Excel

Special Projects and Venue Promotion

Area – Special Projects

Length of internship: 3,5 months
Period: from 1 February 2022 to 13 May 2022
Educational goals: to assist and support the design process for the functional renovation and maintenance of buildings used for the purposes of Biennale exhibitions and performances.

Essential requisites
University courses of study: Architectural Design (design, materials technology, restoration, renovation)
Language Skills: Italian level C1, English level B2
Computer skills: Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Windows or MacOs); Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat); working knowledge of Autocad 2D and 3D; working knowledge of at least one 3D-modelling software programme

Engineering and Logistics

Area – Engineering and Logistics Services

Length of internship: 3 months
Period: from 1 February 2022 to 30 April 2022
Educational goals: to assist the technical coordination team of the exhibition project of the 59th International Art Exhibition (assistance to the construction phase for the realisation of the exhibition)

Protocol Office

Area – Protocol

Length of internship: 3 months
Period: from 1 February 2022 to 30 April 2022
Educational goals: to assist in the ceremonial activities and in the organization of institutional initiatives for the 59th International Art Exhibition and the pre-opening days.

University course of study: Humanities, International Relations, International and Diplomatic Sciences
Language skills: Italian level C1, English level B2, second language level B2
Computer skills: excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite

Publications and Web

Area – Editorial work, Publications and Web

Length of internship: 3 months
Period: from 1 February 2022 to 30 April 2022
Educational goals: to assist in editing: copy editing, proofreading with the purpose of monitoring the various phases in the development of printed and digital publications; to assist in the implementation of the Web Site, development and practice of the systems, development and practice of digital image management; to assist in social network editing

Essential requisites
University courses of study: Humanities, Sciences
Language skills: Italian level C1, English level C1, second language level B2
Computer skills: excellent knowledge of Photoshop, desktop publishing and digital image editing programmes and similar

Press Office

Area – Visual Art Dept. Press Office

Length of internship: 3,5 months
Period: from 1 February 2022 to 13 May 2022
Educational goals: participation in the communication plan for the 59th International Art Exhibition and assistance in the activities scheduled for the opening phases of the Exhibition: drafting press review, text editing, editing of photography, preparation of information materials (press releases, press kit, pre-opening days agenda, interview agenda)

ASAC - Historical Archives of Contemporary Arts

Area – Archive
2 positions
Length of internship: 6 months
Period: from 17 January 2022 to 17 July 2022
Educational goals: research activity in the various Visual Arts funds of the Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts (ASAC) as part of a specific research project aimed at consulting the transformations of gender concept in visual arts over the period from 1978 to today. The research activity will focus on the quantitative and qualitative exploration of the presence of female artists in the editions of Biennale Arte from 1978 to 2019.
