Starting Friday May 27th advance ticket sales begin for the performances of the Biennale Teatro 2022

The tickets may be purchased online and, during the Festival, one hour before performance time at the dedicated ticket points.

Biennale Teatro 2022

Advance ticket sales open on Friday May 27th at 3 pm, for the performances of the 50th International Theatre Festival (24 June > 3 July) directed by Stefano Ricci and Gianni Forte (ricci/forte) and produced by La Biennale di Venezia. The tickets and passes may be purchased online on the website (www.labiennale.org), and during the Festival, one hour before performance time at the dedicated ticket office at the Arsenale, at the ticket office of La Biennale in Ca’ Giustinian (open 10 am to 5 pm), and at the Infopoints of the Biennale Arte 2022 at the Giardini and the Arsenale (during exhibition opening hours).

Options include:

  • The Biennale Arte/Biennale Teatro ticket, which includes one admission to the 59th International Art Exhibition and one performance of the 50th International Theatre Festival for a total price of 35 euro (instead of 45)
  • Late Hour Scratching Poetry, the “after hours” event of the Biennale Teatro 2022 with readings from the works of Alda Merini and a dj-set, which may be attended in one of two ways: free of charge with a ticket from the last performance or individually at the special price of 10 euro (which includes one drink).

Asia Argento (on inauguration night), Sonia Bergamasco (on closing night) and Galatea Ranzi leading many young Italian theatre actresses are the voices chosen by Directors Stefano Ricci and Gianni Forte (ricci/forte) to pay tribute to the poet and author Alda Merini (1931-2009). Every evening after the last show, for the entire duration of the Festival, the outdoor spaces of the Arsenale will host a reading of some of Alda Merini’s most famous works, first and foremost La pazza della porta accanto. The spectator will be accompanied in this journey in words by Demetrio Castellucci, with his electronic soundscapes and dj-set.
“With an altogether different breath, this daily coming together at nightfall enables us to listen, to come to terms with the way we see things and put our objective view on hold. Eyes closed, it allows us to let the sparks of Alda Merini's poetry reverberate through our arteries, and restructure our individual experiences; it’s the Doppler ultrasonography that unveils the innocence we had long archived” (ricci/forte).

The many important guests of the 50th International Theatre Festival will include: Christiane Jatahy, Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, Samira Elagoz, Silver Lion, Milo Rau, Caden Mason and Jemma Nelson from the Big Art Group, Yana Ross, the Belova/Iacobelli company, Peeping Tom, Daria Deflorian and Antonio Tagliarini.
The Festival will also present plays, performances and play readings by the young artists of the Biennale College Teatro: Olmo Missaglia, Tolja Djokovic, Giacomo Garaffoni, Aine E. Nakamura, and Antoine Neufmars.
