Synopsis
A young boy named Satou sees a young girl and an old man emerging from a mysterious light. The girl, Hime, tells him that what he has just seen must be kept secret. The two become friends.
Ten years later, on a date at a local festival, Satou decides to confess his feelings for Hime. She interrupts him to reveal that she is moving to a place far away and says goodbye.
Satou goes home shocked and confused. He later sees a bright light shining in the mountains. Something prompts him to run towards the light, where he finds Hime standing before the source. The girl reveals that she is a princess from a different world and then disappears into the light. He chases after her.
Director’s Statement
This short film is the first end product of “Project Hikari,” a research initiative within Square Enix to explore new storytelling potentials offered by next generation immersive technology. The goal is to push the boundaries of VR expression to create compelling story experiences that are both uniquely Japanese and enjoyable for everyone.
