As Collateral Events it is meant the events that aim to promote and enhance cinematographic culture, including conferences, symposiums and initiatives that honour the work of distinguished cinema personalities, organized during the 77th Venice International Film Festival, promoted and organized autonomously by public or private non-profit subjects. The promoting subjects of the events, hence Promoters, must mainly operate in the fields of cinema, art and civil society, and cannot in any case be organizers of film festivals. In order to obtain the qualification of Collateral Event, the event must receive the formal approval of La Biennale di Venezia. Once approved, the Promoters will be responsible for the realization of the event autonomously.

2. Event Application

The Promoters interested in proposing a Collateral Event to the 77th Venice International Film Festival must send their application, with the full documentation necessary for its evaluation by La Biennale di Venezia, to the email address segreteria.cinema@labiennale.org, by and no later than Friday 5th June 2020.

The documentation must include:

1. Letter on official letterhead of the Promoter of the event, signed by the legal representative of the Promoter and addressed to the President of La Biennale di Venezia and the Artistic Director of the Venice International Film Festival. The letter must indicate:
   - Presentation and details of the Promoter;
  - Detailed presentation of the Collateral Event, with information on the date of the event and its organizational arrangements.

2. Copy of these regulations, undersigned for acceptance by the legal representative of the Promoter.

La Biennale di Venezia will send the Promoter a written confirmation of the acceptance or rejection of the application. In case of non-acceptance, the decision is at the sole discretion of La Biennale di Venezia and does not entail the obligation of motivation.

3. Venues

It is a responsibility of the Promoter to find a suitable venue for the event, covering all costs and fulfilments related to its organization.
Events that include film screenings can request to La Biennale di Venezia to make use of the Cinema Astra screening rooms during the Venice Production Bridge. Under request by the Promoter, La Biennale di Venezia can as well consider to host activities of the Collateral Events in its venues, as long as they take place between Monday 7th and Thursday 10th September 2020. The granting of spaces and venues by La Biennale di Venezia is subjected to their availability and it’s at the sole discretion of La Biennale di Venezia without the obligation of motivation.

4. Promotion and Communication

For the selected Collateral Events it will be possible to upload press releases on the online pressbox of the 77th Venice International Film Festival at the disposition of the Italian and International press, that is one press release of presentation of the event and one regarding its outcome.

The Promoters whose applications have been accepted will as well be able to use the phrase “Collateral Event of the 77th Venice International Film Festival” in the promotional materials of their event.

It is forbidden:
   - to use the lettering “77th Venice International Film Festival”, unless preceded by the expression “On the occasion of”.
   - to use the logos of the 77th Venice International Film Festival and of La Biennale di Venezia.

The communication activities of the Collateral Event can be activated only after the official communication of its approval by La Biennale di Venezia.
