Dance Biennale

The 7th International Festival of Contemporary Dance, directed by Ismael Ivo and titled CAPTURING EMOTIONS, came to an end on 12th June. Since 26th May, the event brought to Venice 36 performances, 5 world premieres, 20 choreographers, 16 companies, a new “off” section dedicated to innovative works, a choreography workshop, and meetings with protagonists of international dance.
The Dance section now continues its activities with the auditions for the Arsenale della Danza, whose next masterclass program will run February to June 2011.

Auditions (August / October 2010)

Arsenale della Danza invites contemporary dancers into an intense physical learning-by-doing process of research and exchange. Four months (Feb. to June 2011) in Venice of daily classes with master teachers in a multifunctional space which fosters the dialogue with other artistic disciplines. Auditions in Vienna c/o ImPulsTanz on 7-8 August 2010 (deadline: 30 July) and in Venice at Teatro Piccolo Arsenale, on 23-24 October 2010 (deadline: 9 October).

Golden Lion and Silver Lions awards

The Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement has been presented to American choreographer William Forsythe, a total artist who has revolutionized the world of dance regenerating classical language.
The newly established Silver Lion has been presented to Performing Arts Research and Training Studios - P.A.R.T.S. of Brussels. The award ceremony took place on Saturday 5th June at the Teatro Piccolo Arsenale in Venice (4 p.m.).
