Janet Cardiff's audio work is based on the Reinassance choral music Spem in alium by Thomas Tallis. Forty separately recorded voices play through forty speakers strategically placed in an oval throughout the space in the Arsenale. One can experience a piece of music from the viewpoint of the singer.
