What is the best time to visit the Exhibition?
Usually the Exhibition is most visited during the weekends, while midweek days are recommended for those who prefer to visit the exhibition at a more leisurely pace; certainly the best period to organise your visit is from May to September, where in addition to the tranquillity of the summer months you can also take advantage of the extended opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays at the Arsenale (see opening hours). In addition, the International Dance, Theatre and Music Festivals and the Venice International Film Festival, all take place between June and September, offering a great opportunity to attend different events during the same visit.
What are the opening days and hours of the Exhibition?
Giardini and Arsenale: from 20 April to 30 September, 11 am - 7 pm (last admission 6:45 pm); from 1 October to 24 November, 10 am – 6 pm (last admission 5:45 pm);

The exhibition is closed on Mondays, except 22 April, 17 June, 22 July, 2 and 30 September, and 18 November 2024.
In no case are visitors allowed to remain in the exhibition after closing time, we therefore invite you to plan how much time you want to dedicate to your visit, taking into consideration the type of ticket/accreditation you have purchased.
How many entrance gates are there to the Exhibition Venues and where are they?
There are four entrance gates to the exhibition venues: the entrances to the Giardini from Viale Trento 1260 and from Sant’Elena (Viale IV novembre); the entrances to the Arsenale venue from Campo della Tana 2169/F and from the Ponte dei Pensieri (Salizada Streta).

Where can I buy admission tickets for the Biennale Arte?
Tickets may be purchased online on the website www.labiennale.org.
At the Infopoints (Giardini in Viale Trento and Arsenale in Riva di Ca’ di Dio) there is a courtesy service for visitors that offers assistance for the purchase of admission tickets and scheduled guided tours. Some types of tickets, such as the discount tickets for visitors with a certified disability and the complimentary tickets for the adults accompanying them may be collected at the Infopoints. Accreditation for residents in the City of Venice may be purchased by sending an email applying for it to: booking@labiennale.org attaching a document that proves your resident status, or at the Infopoints upon presentation of an Identity Card.
I am a student, can I get educational credits?
Before purchasing your ticket, contact your University about their policies in the matter, and instructions on how to proceed.
Can I buy the discount tickets online?
All tickets, both full price and discount tickets, must be purchased online. However certain types of discount tickets, for example those reserved for visitors with a certified disability, are available exclusively at the Infopoints (Giardini in Viale Trento and Arsenale in Riva Ca’ di Dio).
Always remember to bring a document proving you are entitled to the discount on the day of your visit, as you will be required to display it along with your ticket at the entrance gates to the exhibition.
Do you have to be a student and under 26 to purchase the €16 discount ticket?
The € 16 ticket may be purchased by all students independently of their age and by anyone aged 26 and under, even those who are no longer students. Remember however to bring a document proving you are entitled to the discount on the day of your visit, as you will be required to display it along with your ticket at the entrance to the exhibition.
Can you purchase the admission ticket using the teachers’ bonus?
The ticket cannot be purchased using the teachers’ bonus because La Biennale di Venezia is not among the qualified institutions.
Free guided tours are available for teachers upon reservation (teacher preview) to illustrate the various educational opportunities organized for schools: www.labiennale.org/en/art/2024/educational-programme
A discount ticket is furthermore available for teachers accompanying their students to the exhibition.
Does the ticket also include admission to the Collateral Events and the Pavilions located around the city?
The ticket is required for the Giardini and Arsenale venues. Most Collateral Events and Pavilions around Venice have free admission, except some that might require an admission ticket.
As to the combined Art + Dance / Music / Theatre ticket, do you have to visit the Exhibition on the same day as the performance?
The visit to the Exhibition can take place at different times, and not necessarily on the same day as the performance, except for special events that will be specifically announced.
I have an Art ticket, can I buy a discount ticket for a Dance / Music / Theatre performance?
Yes, you may buy one by presenting your Exhibition ticket directly at the Infopoints (Giardini in Viale Trento and Arsenale in Riva Ca’ di Dio).
I have a certified disability. What price am I entitled to?
People with a certified invalidity can purchase discount tickets at the Infopoints (Giardini in Viale Trento and Arsenale in Riva Ca’ di Dio), by presenting the relative certification. Adults accompanying people with a certified invalidity are entitled to free complimentary admission and can collect their tickets at the Infopoints.
How do you get the free tickets for children aged 0-6?
The free ticket for children can be downloaded in digital format from the online ticket office in combination with the purchase of a Full price, Resident or Over 65 ticket, by selecting the “complimentary children’s” ticket. For each free children’s ticket, 1 adult ticket must be purchased. If the accompanying adult is entitled to a different type of discount, or accompanies more than one child, or already has an admission ticket, the children’s free ticket may be requested directly at the Infopoints (Giardini in Viale Trento e Arsenale in Riva Ca’ di Dio).
I have children older than 6, what type of ticket must I purchase for them?
Children from the age of 7 and up are entitled to a discount student/under 26 ticket.
Can I visit the two venues of the Exhibition on different days?
Yes, all the tickets guarantee admission to both venues of the Exhibition, one time for each venue, on the same day or on different days. The days you visit each venue do not necessarily need to be consecutive. The ticket does not allow you to enter and leave each venue more than once.
Only the 3-day ticket, the one-week ticket and the accreditation allow multiple admissions to each exhibition venue. For the admission policies for multiple-access tickets and accreditations, please read the description of these types of tickets carefully before purchasing.
Do I have to choose a date for my visit?
You do not need to reserve a date for admission, just purchase the ticket and come to the entrance gates of the Exhibition on any day it is open.
Are tickets strictly personal?
It’s not necessary to add the name of the person who will use the ticket, just purchase the ticket and come to Exhibition gates. For tax purposes the ticket shows the name of the buyer, but this is not binding.
Accreditation on the other hand is strictly personal, therefore the purchasing procedure will ask for the name and surname of the person who will actually use it; a valid identity document will be required at the entrance.
Can the name on the accreditation ticket be changed?
If the accreditation has never been used, you can request that the name be changed by going to the Infopoints (Giardini in Viale Trento and Arsenale in Riva Ca’ di Dio), and presenting an authorization form signed by the original accreditation-holder if he/she is not present. If the accreditation has already been used, the name cannot be changed.
I am unable to purchase my ticket online, the screen goes blank when I confirm the purchase. Why?
This is usually a problem with the browser you are using, just change browser and that will solve the problem.
I received an email confirming the purchase. How can I print the tickets?
The tickets purchased online may be found at the following link: https://shop.vivaticket.com/en/help/visualizza_ricevuta. Enter the transaction code in your possession and you will get your ticket in the pdf format. Avoid printing the ticket and the exhibition brochure, use the digital versions.
I was charged for the purchase of a ticket but I did not receive confirmation. How can I get my tickets?
If you did not get to the screen stating “PURCHASE CONFIRMED”, your purchase probably failed. Check with your bank, and if necessary repeat the process, making sure you complete all the required steps.
What is the difference between the exhibition venue at Giardini and the one in the Arsenale? Where does the visit start from?
The two venues are independent but complementary, because they are part of the same exhibition. The admission ticket is a combined ticket that gives access to both venues. You can start your visit from either of the two venues as you prefer.
Is there a section of the Exhibition in Mestre?
Yes, since 2018 Forte Marghera has been hosting the Special Projects set up as part of the Art and Architecture Biennales.
www.labiennale.org/en/venues/forte-marghera-mestre
Is there a cloakroom/luggage storage area in the exhibition venues? Does it charge a fee?
There is a cloakroom in both the exhibition venues at the Giardini and the Arsenale and they are free of charge.
At the Giardini there is a cloakroom attendant, and at the Arsenale there are lockers with keys.
Medium/large suitcases may not be stored, only small personal objects such as bags, jackets or umbrellas.
Can I leave the exhibition and go back in?
The tickets do not allow you to leave the exhibition and go back in, they are valid for one admission only in each exhibition venue, even on non-consecutive days. Only the 3-day ticket, the one-week ticket and the accreditation tickets are valid for multiple admissions to both venues, with duration depending on the selected typology.
How far is the Giardini venue from the Arsenale? How long does it take to visit the venues?
The two venues are about a ten-minute walk from each other. The average visit lasts about 3 hours per venue.
Are there any services offered to help visitors with reduced mobility and other special needs?
The Exhibition venues offer a courtesy transportation service with electric vehicles for visitors with reduced mobility and, at the Giardini, there are maps on pedestals at the entrance to the pavilions detailing conditions of accessibility. Also available, upon request to the staff at the venue on a first come first serve basis: strollers, stroller tricycles, walkers, and wheelchairs.
Reservations may also be made (this is a service with a fee) for guided tours for visually-impaired or blind visitors, with a focus on aspects of language and content, and guided tours for the hearing-impaired community with educational activities in the Italian sign language (LIS).
There are also free activities available for support centres, shelter homes, educational and therapeutic communities: educational activities, workshops, guided tours and special exhibition routes for an introduction to the contemporary arts.
There are materials available to special needs teachers, dedicated to inclusive visits to Biennale Arte 2024.
Is it possible to enter the exhibition venues with a dog?
In agreement with Bauadvisor, a paid Dog Sitter and Dog Walker service is available, which can be booked at least 24 hours in advance. The service, provided by Bauadvisor, allows owners of pet dogs who intend to visit the Art Exhibition to entrust their dogs to the dog walkers at the entrance to the exhibition venue, at the agreed date and time, until the end of the visit, when they will be returned to their owners.
Small to medium-size pets are allowed on a leash in the green areas of the Giardini only.
Where can we purchase tickets at the group rate (min 10 participants)?
Groups who wish to enter the exhibition venues independently must necessarily purchase the tickets on our website www.labiennale.org.
How can I purchase a private guided tour or a pre-scheduled guided tour?
Private guided tours may be requested by filling out the online form on the website www.labiennale.org at least 15 days before the day of the tour. Our staff will respond within 7 working days from receipt of your request to confirm or decline the selected date based on the available openings on our calendar. Prepayment is required and must be made within 48 hours of the confirmation of your reservation.
Each guide may lead a maximum of 25 participants. Groups larger than 25 participants will be split into smaller groups. The costs shown on our website are per guide and do not include admission tickets.
Pre-scheduled guided tours are available in Italian and in English only, and are dedicated to visitors who are not organized as a group; they take place on a fixed schedule of days and times, and may be purchased on the website www.labiennale.org on a first come first serve basis.
In what languages are the guided tours available?
Guided tours are available in Italian, English, Italian Sign Language (LIS) and other foreign languages. For further information please contact: promozione@labiennale.org
Pre-scheduled guided tours for visitors who are not organized as a group are available in Italian and in English only.
What are the starting times and costs for the pre-scheduled guided tours? Does the cost of the pre-scheduled guided tour also include the admission ticket to the Exhibition?
The pre-scheduled guided tours begin at pre-established times, which depend on the day and the month of your visit. Consult the schedule and check availability on the website www.labiennale.org. The cost of a pre-scheduled guided tour is €8 per person per exhibition venue (the cost is €8.50 including the advance sales fee). It does not include the cost of the admission ticket to the Exhibition.
What activities are there for children and families?
There are family-friendly guided tours for families, in which the itinerary is conceived to involve the children, selecting works most suitable to interest them.
There are two types of tours:
Pre-scheduled tours: these are tours departing at pre-established times for groups of visitors with children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. During the tour, a selection of artworks will be made to continue with an art workshop. The presence of a parent is required both during the visit and in the workshop. They cost € 8.50 per participant per venue (both adults and children) and may be purchased here: www.labiennale.org/en/art/2024/information#tickets. Admission tickets are not included. For children up to the age of 12 included, there is a free admission which may be acquired during the purchasing process for the pre-scheduled family-friendly guided tour.
Private tours: these are tours for one family group. You may choose the date and time, and the tours will be custom-planned to fit the children’s ages. The cost is € 90 per venue and € 150 for both (the cost is for the entire family or group, for a maximum of 25 persons). To request a private guided tour, please fill out the online application form available here: www.labiennale.org/en/art/2024/adults-and-families.
Admission tickets are not included. For children up to the age of 6 included, admission is free. Children ages 7 and up are entitled to the discounted student/under 26 ticket.
