Anagoor participates in the Fies Factory project
This is not just a production about the figure of Mariano Fortuny, the multifaceted artist of Andalusian origin obsessed by the beauty of Venice, who sought his whole life to capture its essence and transform it. Anagoor intends instead to discover the view of the man on the city, in an attempt to understand his work as both cataloguing memory and conveying forms. Within the reality of politics and the preservation of the cultural heritage as it exists in Italy today, this Venetian company wishes to concretize the possible subversive power implied by reclaiming memory and the collective imagination. The place in which this intention takes place is “FORTUNY”, an exploration through performance that has developed along several lines – the last of which is at Palazzo Fortuny, where glimpses of hidden Venetian stories have come to light, from the (re)construction of monuments to the paintings of Carpaccio, to the destruction of gondolas by a party of young men in 1507.
Philology, art history, architecture, visual arts, dance, music; plus a long, tireless apprenticeship in the theatre – this is the training of the components of Anagoor, founded in Castelfranco Veneto in the year 2000. A political theatre project (the name, in honour of Buzzati’s imaginary city, was chosen because it came out of «the love of its founders for the city») and an ensemble famous for the great archetypal fascination of its productions, in 2008 Anagoor inaugurated its own space in La Conigliera: a renovated former rabbit farm in the open countryside of the Veneto region, today it is a space dedicated to research, with residencies, educational activities and events.
