Introducing the 65th Venice Film Festival
65th Venice International Film Festival
On July 29th, the President of the Venice Biennale, Paolo Baratta, and the Director of the Cinema section, Marco Müller, presented in Rome the line-up of the 65th Venice International Film Festival, that will take place at Venice Lido from August 27th to September 6th. The official selection includes the following sections: Venezia 65 (an international competition of feature films running for the Golden Lion), Out of Competition, Orizzonti, and Corto Cortissimo. The Festival will be opened on the evening of Wednesday 27th August by the world premiere screening of Burn After Reading by Joel and Ethan Coen.

The 65th Venice International Film Festival, organised by the Venice Biennale, will take place on the Venice Lido from 27th August to 6th September 2008.
Burn After Reading, written and directed by Academy Award® winners Joel and Ethan Coen, will open the Festival this year.
The new series of retrospective screenings and restorations of the 65th Venice Film Festival will be dedicated to These Phantoms: Italian Cinema Rediscovered (1946–1975).
Marco Müller will be the director of the next edition, continuing the work he began in 2004.

The Director of the Cinema section, Marco Müller, continues the work he began in 2004, which has led to a Festival that is increasingly present on the international stage, responsive to emerging film industries and to new talents and at the same time can exploit a solid and constant relationship with the best film production of the world.
