The line-up of the Festival has been announced on July 29th: the official selection is made up of 4 sections (Venezia 67, Out of Competition, Orizzonti, and Controcampo Italiano) and a retrospective section on Italian Comedy (1937-1988). Black Swan by Darren Aronofsky is the opening film, in competition. Jingwufengyun – Chen Zhen (Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen) by Andrew Lau is the second film on the opening night (Out of Competition). Machete by Robert Rodriguez is the midnight film on Sept. 1.

Juries / Opening and closing films of Orizzonti

Four Juries have been appointed. They will award the official prizes: Venezia 67 (President: Quentin Tarantino), Orizzonti (Shirin Neshat), Controcampo Italiano (Valerio Mastandrea), and “Luigi De Laurentiis“ Award for a debut film (Fatih Akin).
La Belle endormie by Catherine Breillat and Oki’s Movie (Ok-hui-ui yeonghwa) by Hong Sang-soo will be the opening and closing films of the Orizzonti section.

I baci mai dati opens Controcampo italiano

I baci mai dati, written and directed by Roberta Torre, and starring Donatella Finocchiaro, Pino Micol, Giuseppe Fiorello, Carla Marchese, and Valentina Giordanella, with special guest star Piera Degli Esposti, is the opening film of Controcampo Italiano. The film will have its world premiere screening on Friday September 3rd in the Sala Grande. This section, now in its second edition, is aimed at focusing on new trends of Italian cinema.
