The Biennale Board approved several new features for the next Venice Film Festival: Biennale College - Cinema, a workshop open to young filmmakers from around the world, for the production of low-budget films. Light Market, a new structure as an actual Market, in its earliest phases. Urban renewal of the area dedicated to the Festival, and renovation of the spaces. New Regulations.
The Festival will run August 29th to September 8th, directed by Alberto Barbera.

Your Film Festival: discovering new talent
YouTube in partnership with Emirates, la Biennale di Venezia and Scott Free Productions, announced Your Film Festival – a global competition to find the world’s best storytellers, connect them with a global audience, and provide one deserving entrant with an opportunity to showcase their film during the 69th Venice Film Festival. Entrants should submit a 15’ short film and upload it on youtube.com/yourfilmfestival from February 2 to March 31, 2012.

Management of the Festival’s venues and sites
In 2011, La Biennale has undertaken a more direct role in managing the Festival’s spaces, allowing it to launch initiatives to generally improve the Lido’s cinema quarter. It was thus possible to achieve, in record time, the first step towards the scheduled overall renewal with the restoration and upgrade of the Sala Grande.
