70 Directors for Venice 70
Born in Lubiana in 1966, he is an archaeologist, screenwriter, actor and director. His first works won him many national and international acknowledgments, the first of which was an award at the Venice Film Festival in 2001: Cvitkovic won the Golden Lion for the Future – “Luigi De Laurentiis” Venice Prize for a Debut Film, for his first film Kruh in mleko (Bread and Milk, 2001). His second feature-length film Odgrobadogroba (Gravehopping, 2005) won the Altadis Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival. His most recent film Arheo (Archeo, 2011) won the Prizes for Best Film, Best Director and Best Photography at the Festival of Slovenian Film.
