All sections »

1955: shortly before leaving the Lido, director Rouben Mamoulian drafted a handwritten letter, on the letterhead of the Hotel Danieli, to thank the director of the Venice Film Festival Ottavio Croze. Mamoulian was the director of the first film ever screened in the history of the Venice Film Festival, at 9:15 pm on August 6th, 1932, on the terrace of the Hotel Excelsior: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
