XII Mostra internazionale d’arte cinematografica (1951)
“Venice is the most photogenic city in the world, it’s perfectly appropriate that it dedicate a yearly event to cinema”, says the announcer as he introduces the 12th edition of the Venice Film Festival, as it witnesses “a non-stop stream of stars”: Orson Welles, the Director of the Festival Petrucci, and even Winston Churchill. The grand prize Lion of Saint Mark went that year to the Japanese film Rashomon, Best Actor and Best Actress to Jean Gabin and Vivian Leigh.
