Biennale Danza 2026

Sir Wayne McGregor confirmed as Artistic Director of the Dance Department for the two-year period 2027-2028.

A series of films on dance directed by the unmistakable hand of one of cinema's masters, Frederick Wiseman, the recipient of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in 2014.

The Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement goes to Australian company Bangarra Dance Theatre. Award ceremony on Sunday 26 July at Ca’ Giustinian, Venice.

From July 17th through August 1st, the 20th International Festival of Contemporary Dance features 150 artists for over 60 events and a programme consisting entirely of new works: 9 world premieres, 3 European premieres, and 8 Italian premieres.

On view until 1 August in the Sala d’Armi E at Arsenale to mark the occasion of the Festival’s twentieth edition.

The Festival includes workshops both for specialists and open to everyone, alongside a schedule of meetings and conversations with the artists featured.

A series of workshops open to the public and aimed at dancers with various levels of experience: from 19 July to 1 August at Sala d’Armi G (Arsenale).

Two international calls for the selection of young dancers and choreographers are now available online. Deadline: 26 January 2026.
