WHAT’S NEW AT THE VENICE FILM FESTIVAL

The Biennale Board approved several new features for the next Venice Film Festival: Biennale College - Cinema, a workshop open to young filmmakers from around the world, for the production of low-budget films. Light Market, a new structure as an actual Market, in its earliest phases. Urban renewal of the area dedicated to the Festival, and renovation of the spaces. New Regulations. The Festival runs Aug. 29th to Sept. 8th.

3RD INTERNATIONAL KIDS’ CARNIVAL

The third edition of the International Kids’ Carnival will run in Venice from 11th to 21st February at the Giardini. The initiative was presented on 3rd February by Paolo Baratta and the representatives of participating countries. The new edition is titled Tales and Thoughts and will feature the participation of Australia, Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Netherlands, Romania, and the United States.

THE DIRECTORS OF ART AND D M T SECTIONS

On 31st January 2012, the Board of the Venice Biennale appointed the Directors of the Art, Music, Theatre and Dance sections. The appointments were decided as follows: Massimiliano Gioni was appointed by majority Director of the Visual Arts section. Ivan Fedele was appointed Director of the Music section for the four-year term 2012-2015. Àlex Rigola and Ismael Ivo were also confirmed.
