On Tuesday, May 13th, the President of the Venice Biennale, Paolo Baratta, and the Director of the Architecture section, Aaron Betsky, will present in New York (c/o the Whitney Museum of American Art) the 11th International Architecture Exhibition, OUT THERE: Architecture Beyond Building. The event will take place in Venice from September 14th to November 23rd, 2008. The preview will be on September 11th, 12th and 13th. According to Aaron Betsky, the Exhibition will present “site specific installations, visions and experiments that help us figure out, make sense of and feel at home in our modern world.”

The great Italian master Ermanno Olmi will be awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 65th Venice Film Festival. The award was proposed by the Festival Director, Marco Müller, and approved by the Venice Biennale Board.

The 6th International Festival of Contemporary Dance will this year “talk about” Beauty: with performances, workshops, meetings and a video installation accompanying the event, running from 14th to 29th June in Venice.

The Board of the Venice Biennale held a meeting on 7th April in which it nominated Daniel Birnbaum as Director of the Visual Arts Sector, with specific responsibility as curator of the 53rd Intl. Art Exhibition, to be held in 2009.
