Description

The new Los Angeles Sixth Street Viaduct is a transformative infrastructure project for the City of Los Angeles and the single largest bridge project in its history. The Viaduct, and other ambitious infrastructural projects, are collectively challenging the history of infrastructure as a divisive element and instead evolving the idea of infrastructure to become one of civicstructure, moving from a monoculture of singular use to a multiculture of connection and urban vibrancy. Challenging the long-held notion that infrastructural elements in cities are single-purpose, divisive elements, the Viaduct instead reimagines the city’s infrastructural network as vital physical, social, and cultural catalysts that can unite, rather than divide our cities.
