The Historical Archives of Contemporary Arts (ASAC) is the largest collection of assets concerning La Biennale di Venezia, gathered from the beginning to the present. Located in the VEGA complex in the Venice mainland, the ASAC offers services of documentation, research and experimentation in the field of contemporary arts: visual arts, architecture, cinema, music, dance, and theatre. Most of the above collections are located at Vega (Cygnus building) whereas the Library, including the Periodicals collection, has found a new location at the Biennale Library at Giardini. A selection of works from the artistic fund are now on display in La Biennale headquarters at Ca’ Giustinian.

 

NOTICE:
The Biennale Archives are open to the public by appointment only, Tuesday to Thursday, 9:30 am - 5 pm.

In our reply to requests, access modalities and good practices users must follow will be explained in detail, according to the security protocol “Anti COVID-19 plan - ASAC Library and Archive”.

Starting from 6th August 2021, with the exception of children under 12 years of age and persons who are exempt from it, visitors must present a Green Pass or equivalent certificate recognized by the Italian State to access the premises.
The Green Pass or equivalent certificate must give evidence that:
- a person has been vaccinated against Covid-19;
- received the first dose of a vaccine requiring two;
- recovered from Covid-19;
- received a negative PCR or rapid antigen test result in the previous 48 hours.
Visitors must present a valid ID together with the certificate.
In case of absence of the documentation specified above, it will not be possible to access the premises.

ASAC at VEGA

The Historical Archives of Contemporary Arts (ASAC) is the largest collection of assets concerning La Biennale di Venezia, gathered from the beginning to the present. Located in the VEGA complex in the Venice mainland, the ASAC offers services of documentation, research and experimentation in the field of contemporary arts: visual arts, architecture, cinema, music, dance, and theatre.

The ASAC is a multi-disciplinary and multimedia structure, divided into: Historic fund, Photo library, Film library, Media library, Poster collection, Documentary material, Library (*located at Giardini, alongside the Central Pavilion), Periodicals, Collection of scores, Artistic fund.
Most of the above collections are located at VEGA (Cygnus building) whereas the Library, including the Periodicals collection, has found a new location at the Biennale Library at Giardini. A selection of works from the artistic fund are now on display in La Biennale headquarters at Ca’ Giustinian.
