Anokhya: The origin

Anokhya, a courtesan trained in the ancient sixty four arts, seeks a forbidden mystical discipline from a reclusive sage. Burdened by hidden pasts, their encounter reshapes their destinies. Set in a mythic world inspired by Indian epics, the piece places the viewer in intimate proximity to Anokhya as she moves through a sensorial Himalayan landscape toward her first fateful meeting with the sage.

The idea for Anokhya came from my mentor, Mr. A. R. Rahman, when he first told me about a unique order of courtesans who exist somewhere between myth, lore, and history. Through our conversations, that seed grew into a concept that promised a world filled with art, intrigue and mystique. Anokhya sets out to transport the viewer into that world — to create an experience that is at once intimate and boundless. And through it all, to tell a story of two enigmatic characters who come to understand their destiny.
