| Note: | “Memory” is a project about imagined childhood memories. It’s about sensations – vague, fantastical, half-faded – that replaced reality with a fairy jumble, where meanings blossoms with new clusters of interpretations, while the blooming eyes of an inner observer watch intently to all of this. Technically, this world is a gallery of Lera Nibiru’s analog works – drawings and paintings – whose scenes flow smoothly into 3D reality. This is a total installation but one that is nearly impossible to construct in the real world. Here, Lera Nibiru wanted to recreate the sensation of a visitor transforming from a spectator into a participant, as the boundary between observer and observed blurs. If the visitor climbs to the highest point in the world, from the tip of the thumb they can see how elements of reality – pavilions and structures – form the word ‘Memory’, reminding us that everything we see is merely a conceptual construct of our inner memory. |
