Description

The raw material is two bodies, two elements of the ordinary, two people, two portraits, two sculptural entities, two fragments, two, and at times, just one. Like clay in the hands of a sculptor the two bodies serve this experiment, about being and staying and posing, about transformation. To represent a mysterious attraction, beyond the laws of physics, is a vision, an attempt at the simultaneity of time and space.

Claudia Catarzi

“The process is carnal rather than conceptual and the thought is bound to the ‘here and now’ which supports the composition of the story between the bodies, guides the metamorphosis of the thoughts operating within it and constantly transforms the raw material: the human figure. Building on the principle that each element exists because it is placed in a relation to others, the work develops by organizing specific space-time contexts in which relativity plays an active role. Each presence may thus be read in space and time, and so is organic to these two parameters. In my work time drives the progression of the composition, space generates the connections and weight roots the sense of gesture”.
