Online ticket sales for the Biennale Teatro / Danza / Musica 2024

Tickets and subscriptions are available as of Tuesday 23 April.

Ticket sales for all performances and concerts in the programmes of Biennale Danza, Biennale Musica and Biennale Teatro are now open, exclusively on the website of La Biennale di Venezia.

The options for purchase include:

  • the combined Biennale Arte + Biennale Teatro or Biennale Danza or Biennale Musica ticket, which combines the admission ticket for the 60th International Art Exhibition with a ticket for a choice of any performance or concert among those in the programmes of the Dance, Music and Theatre Festivals for a total price of 40 euro.
  • subscription for three performances of Biennale Teatro or Biennale Dance, or three concerts of Biennale Musica (at your choosing among those in the programme) at the cost of 60 euro (36 euro for students and under-26).

BIENNALE TEATRO

Niger et Albus is the title of the 52nd International Theatre Festival, the fourth directed by Stefano Ricci and Gianni Forte (ricci/forte). From June 15th to 30th 2024, it will feature plays, installations, readings and site-specific performances. “A line-up of extraordinary poetic visionary artists – write the Directors – will mobilise to awaken consciences and delineate the boundaries of a more desirable future, awing us with unforgettable performances, offering us a round-trip ticket to a transverse elsewhere” (ricci/forte). The many names in the programme include: Back to Back Theatre, the Australian company of actors with disabilities, winners of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, who come to Italy for the first time with Food Court; the Anglo-German collective Gob Squad, winner of the Silver Lion in Venice, with their play Creation (Pictures for Dorian) and the installation Elephants in roomsthe Swiss director Milo Rau with his new play Medea’s Children; the English playwright and actor Tim Crouch with the not-to-be-missed Truth’s a Dog Must Kennelin which stand-up comedy meets the metaverse. As well as: Muta Imago, an Italian company among the most accredited abroad, Iranian director Amir Reza Koohestani, Brazilian writer and director Luanda Casella, the multimedia artist Miet Warlop.

Biennale Danza

On stage from July 18th to August 3rd, the 18th International Festival of Contemporary Dance is an ode to the beauty of the “human being”. We Humans, this is the title selected by the Artistic Director Wayne McGregor, brings to Venice the protagonists of international contemporary dance, who “through their work invite us to question where we have come from and where we are we heading whilst probing the essential within, the what and the why of sentience” (Wayne McGregor). The invited artists include: Cristina Caprioli, Golden Lion for Life Achievement of the Biennale Danza 2024, in Venice with 3 productions that premiere in Italy, and a new creation for the young dancers of Biennale College Danza; Trajal Harrell, Silver Lion, on stage with his performance installation Sister or He Buried the Body and the performance titled Tambourines; and the Taiwanese company Cloud Gate which addresses artificial intelligence; the Afro-Colombian ensemble Sankofa Danzafro led by Rafael Palacios; the return of Shiro Takatani, co-founder of the Japanese collective Dumb Type who comes to the Biennale Danza with Tangent; the new generations of dance with the world premieres of creations by Miller de Nobili, Vidavè and Melisa Zulberti, winners of the national and international call for new choreographies.

Biennale Musica

Lucia Ronchetti, Director of the Music Department, explores the concept of absolute music. From September 26th to October 11th Absolute Music brings to Venice not only the most original composers on the international scene, but the protagonists of the global electronic scene and the most innovative experimenters in jazz as well. Notable among them are Rebecca Saunders, the English composer based in Berlin, winner of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement 2024, and the Ensemble Modern, who have been awarded the Silver Lion. They are joined, among others, by American composer David Lang, Italian composers Marco Momi, Luca Francesconi and Salvatore Sciarrino; the multi-instrumentalist and composer Tyshawn Sorey and trumpeter Peter Evans; the master of the claviton Georg Vogel. And more: the Iranian composer and guitarist Golfam Khayam, the DJ and performer Muqata’a, Tim Hecker, Søs Gunver Ryberg. The programme is further enhanced by important ensembles and major orchestras, such as the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice, the WDR Sinfonieorchester, and the Frankfurter Opern-und Museumsorchester.
