Description

Geoscope 2 is an immersive, inflatable, multimedia split-sphere occupied by the public. Starting with the legacy of R. Buckminster Fuller (1895–1983), whose planetary thinking aimed to measure physical experience into an ever-expanding pattern of relationships, Geoscope 2 joins a century-long exploration of the world as an architectural project. It is a capsule and cockpit from which to experience six decades of architectural thinking at a planetary scale. If Fuller’s original Geoscope project aimed for a more comprehensive understanding of one’s relationship to the world, Geoscope 2 similarly challenges its occupants to gain an expanded planetary understanding, but now through contemporary means. Presenting the work of architecture students, theorists, and practitioners, Geoscope 2 offers a kaleidoscope of contemporary thoughts and visions at the planetary scale—from the widest reaches of the discipline—and responds to the current tsunami of upheavals within our global society and the natural world.
