The Attention
ALBUM
description
Faig Ahmed’s The Attention confronts a contemporary dilemma: how to find meaning in the chaos of information overload. By reimagining the medieval poetry of the mystic Nasimi, Ahmed wields cultural heritage to propose contemplation as a salve to social turbulence. His installations transmute from material form to quantum process, knitting poetry, science and perception into an experiential fabric.
Rooted in Hurufism – a mystic system where letters hold cosmic significance – Ahmed aligns Nasimi’s encoded universe with contemporary science. He finds mirrors of Hurufi thought in cyphers of quantum physics, where consciousness transcends logic. As encryptions of knots and colors, Azeri carpets form the pavilion’s guiding path, converting textile logic into diagrams of universal knowledge.
In Ancestors, a carpet dissolves into viscosity as visible order shifts to hidden process. In Face It marks a threshold to be confronted. Beyond it, Garden of Awakening animates Nasimi’s verses in immersive soundscapes to render the materiality of language palpable. The journey culminates in Entropy Altar, where a quantum random number generator weaves alphanumeric poetry from viewer entropy. Meaning emerges from chaos, positioning collective consciousness as a cosmological loom.
