description

Printing the Unprinted, the Indonesian pavilion's art project, explores erasure, the reversal of mainstream narratives and the unveiling of what has been hidden. Through printmaking, it redefines “printing” as a cultural and political act that re-records and recreates memory, reaffirming existence within the systems that shape history. The project frames witnessing and participating in the recovery of erased history as a vital collective responsibility, inviting solidarity and fresh understandings across time and place.

The project will include a two-month residency phase during which seven artists will create works for the main exhibition at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica. They will also collaborate and share knowledge with other artists. By creating process-based art, the Indonesian pavilion at the Biennale Arte 2026 makes the invisible visible, and it exposes vulnerability and growth. The power lies in participation and presence.
