Actos invisibles para sostener el universo
Album
Description
Actos invisibles para sostener el universo, by artist collective RojoNegro, offers a respite from present-day noise. This installation is conceived as an invocation where ancestral memory and various forms of intelligence are activated through contemplation, within a ritual time that intertwines decolonial perspectives, relational ecologies, and indigenous, Afro-Mexican and rural cosmogonies.
The tobacco plant, associated with protecting one’s state of mind and inducing altered states of consciousness, introduces visitors to the exhibition. The material dimension – salt, clay, tobacco – expands like a constellation of sensory memories, accompanied by an audiovisual recording where breathing sets the rhythm and interweaves with the sounds of the earth.
A line of salt, drawn like a virgula – a Mesoamerican symbol of words – traces the path and supports bird-shaped vases that connect the Americas. The mineral absorbs moisture, acquires shine, and slowly erodes the ceramics, signaling a shared time of pause and transformation between organism and territory.
Sounds, matter, and memory shape an experience that opens up a space for sustained listening, where the interdependence between bodies, territories, and temporalities becomes perceptible without being confined to a single interpretation.
