Un détour par Diane

Diane despises men as much as she desires them. Her mother was raped three years before her birth. When Diane finds out, she has only one goal: avenging her mother.
But Mom has one thing on her mind: finally becoming the woman she should have been.
Between the one who wants to remember and the one who wants to forget, tensions run high.

Un détour par Diane seeks to explore how trauma is insidiously passed down through the walls we build to forget the past, through the missions we unconsciously entrust to the children we bring into the world in order to move forward, and through the silence of secrecy that corrupts the authenticity of all our bonds.
And once the secret bursts like a soap bubble in Diane’s face – making her its first confidante – we can observe the complexity of this position: that of the person who now knows, but who is asked to say nothing. The prison of secrecy has expanded to include a third person. Diane must now coexist in a suffocating mental space between the victim and the abuser, torn between the desire to bring everything out into the open and seek justice, and the victim’s plea to remain silent to protect her from the upheaval that such a revelation would cause.
In this intimate western, where the vast, arid spaces to get through are those of the soul, we follow the rise to the surface of the ball of violence that was hidden in the recesses of the past and which, from its secret cave, had been polluting the entire groundwater. Diane tries to navigate these murky waters and find the revenge that would open a path for her to a better world.
