Years after leaving Naples behind, Antonio has built a successful life in Milan, far from his mother Angela – an irresistible, old-fashioned woman, excessive in every way and fiercely antagonistic. When she arrives for Christmas seemingly intending never to leave, Christmas Eve dinner becomes an emotional battlefield, both comic and savage, exposing years of resentment and misunderstanding.
A stubborn capon that refuses to be cooked, a daughter whose arrival remains uncertain, and an unexpected guest turn the evening into a decisive reckoning between mother and son, one that will transform their relationship forever. Their love burns like an inner fire – one that never goes out, not even after separation.

Angela is a character who attracts and repels me in equal measure, like everything that truly matters to me. I hang on her every word, depend on her gaze, and tread carefully around her, as if walking on eggshells. The fire she carries within draws me to her; without it, I feel cold and in the dark. But if I get too close, I feel its destructive power and fear being burned – or turned to ashes. I want to run from Angela, yet I know I can never escape her. Only fate will separate us.
My only weapon against Angela is cinema.
