Description

The 3 choreographers Irina Baldini, Chloe Chignell, and Joaquín Collado Parreño, who have to their credit a small number of creations which were the basis of their selection, had at their disposal 6 weeks and 7 professional dancers with advanced technique and many different experiences on stage with a variety of choreographers. The teachers working with the three choreographers included a dramaturgist and an expert in staging to assist them in this area and in directing the performers. Articulating the training programme for the young authors of the Biennale College – Choreographers are masters such as Elizabeth Waterhouse, a dancer for nine years with the Ballett Frankfurt/The Forsythe Company, Hildegard de Vuyst, a dramaturg for Platel’s les ballets C de la B and later for the Royal Flemish Theatre, and Catherine Schaub Abkarian, actress, director, dancer, who worked for many years with Ariane Mnouchkine’s Théâtre du Soleil, and Simone Derai, a director and architect, and one of the founders of the Anagoor collective, a breeding ground for experimentation in theatre. The choreographers in any case were free to follow their own inspiration, with no constraints, to create one piece each between 12 and 25 minutes long, after studying several different approaches to creating and elaborating material in the manner of William Forsythe and selecting only one of them to use as a conceptual mechanism, not an aesthetic model.
At Campo Sant’Agnese, on June 24, the three authors have carte blanche to prepare and show a work together or to each propose their own work separately.
