Director Frederick Wiseman was an undisputed master of documentary cinema and an unforgettable voice of independent film. La Biennale di Venezia awarded him the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice International Film Festival in 2014.
The Ballet de l’Opéra national de Paris, one of the world’s great ballet companies, is seen through rehearsals and performances of works by Wayne McGregor, Angelin Preljocaj, Mats Ek, Pierre Lacotte, Rudolf Nureyev, Pina Bausch and Sasha Waltz. This film explores the administration, discipline and collaborative artistry involved in each production.
