This film follows rehearsals with dancer Cassandra Trenary and choreographer Molissa Fenley as they prepare Fenley’s State of Darkness for performance at the Chautauqua Festival. Focussing on camera placement that translates movement to the screen, the film captures the dancer’s transformation under the choreographer’s guidance, laying bare every nuance.
