Bangarra Dance Theatre - Terrain
Description
“Watch the waters rise and fall as we reconnect with the energy of land and the resilient spirit of the people who care for its future”.
Terrain, a production by Bangarra Dance Theatre — the first company composed entirely of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dancers to receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement — draws inspiration from the timeless beauty and vastness of Australia’s largest salt lake, Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre.
Choreographed by Frances Rings for eighteen remarkably versatile and vibrant dancers, bearers of an ancient cultural legacy, the work unfolds across nine tableaux that evoke the strength of both body and land. The performance explores the profound connection between Australia’s First Nations peoples and their Country: a landscape that becomes a second skin, guardian of ancestral knowledge and an object of care, protection and preservation for future generations.
