Description

Parallax (from parállaksis, ancient Greek for “overlap”) is a phenomenon of perception in which an observed object appears to change its position in the visual field in relation to the observation point. It is therefore considered a displacement or a difference in the apparent position of an object observed along two different lines of vision, and is measured by the angle or half-angle of the inclination between these two lines. Nearby objects have a greater parallax than more distant objects when viewed from different positions, and this is how parallax can be used to determine distances. Drawing inspiration from this in Parallax by Daniele Carcassi and X. Lee propose the principles of perception of parallax related to the sound world.
