Gigi Masin - The Wind Trio
Description
First released in 1986, Wind has gradually come to occupy a singular place within the history of ambient and experimental music. Recorded in Venice and initially issued in a small edition, the album found new audiences decades later through its rediscovery by a younger generation of listeners, attesting to the enduring resonance of its delicate synthesis of melody, atmosphere and sonic imagination. At the Biennale Musica 2026, Gigi Masin revisits this seminal work alongside Neil Charles and Marco Baldini, marking the album’s fortieth anniversary and its reissue in October 2026.
Reimagined for piano, bass, trumpet and electronics, the performance brings Wind back to the city where it was conceived. Long characterised by a sense of openness and emotional immediacy, Masin’s music is built from subtle harmonic shifts, suspended melodic fragments and a deep attentiveness to atmosphere. Together, the concert and reissue affirm the continuing life of a work that has travelled far beyond its origins while remaining intimately connected to Venice.
