Golden Globe Awards: 8 films from the Venice Film Festival earn 18 nominations

Among the international films, a nomination for The Voice of Hind Rajab by Kaouther Ben Hania, Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize in Venice.

The nominations have been announced for the 83rd Golden Globe Awards. The shortlist of nominations includes eight films that had their world premiere screenings at the Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia: The Voice of Hind Rajab by Kaouther Ben Hania, Jay Kelly by Noah Baumbach, No Other Choice by Park Chan-wook, The Testament of Ann Lee by Mona Fastvold, After The Hunt by Luca Guadagnino, Bugonia by Yorgos Lanthimos, Frankenstein by Guillermo del Toro, The Smashing Machine by Benny Safdie, for a total of 18 nominations overall. La Biennale di Venezia wishes to extend its warmest congratulations to all the nominated personalities and productions.

In particular, The Voice of Hind Rajab by Kaouther Ben Hania, winner of the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, received the nomination for Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language.

 

Five nominations were received by Frankenstein by Guillermo del Toro: Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director – Motion Picture, Best Performance by a Male Actor – Drama (Oscar Isaac), Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role (Jacob Elordi), Best Original Score (Alexandre Desplat).

Three nominations each were received by:
No Other Choice by Park Chan-wook: Best Motion Picture – Comedy, Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language, Best Performance by a Male Actor – Comedy (Lee Byung-hun);
Bugonia by Yorgos Lanthimos:  Best Motion Picture – Comedy, Best Performance by a Female Actor – Comedy (Emma Stone), Best Performance by a Male Actor – Comedy (Jesse Plemons).

Two nominations each were received by:
Jay Kelly by Noah Baumbach (George Clooney Best Performance by a Male Actor – Comedy, Adam Sandler Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role)
The Smashing Machine by Benny Safdie (Dwayne Johnson Best Performance by a Male Actor – Drama, Emily Blunt Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role).

One nomination each was received by: The Testament of Ann Lee by Mona Fastvold (Amanda Seyfried Best Performance by a Female Actor – Musical), After the Hunt by Luca Guadagnino (Julia Roberts Best Performance by a Female Actor – Drama).
