| Log line: | In a set of buildings on a remote Maine harbor, some 60 workers bend wooden planks around a frame, make perfect cuts with their saws, and sand edges to create flawless joints – processes that culminate in the stunning wooden vessels made at the Brooklin Boat Yard. These boatbuilders are among the finest in the world. They are also the friends, fathers and husbands within Brooklin’s close-knit community. Over the course of four vibrant seasons, Lorentzen follows these men through their meticulous construction of a 56-foot sailboat. Intertwining the rhythms of the boatyard with the surrounding natural world, the film explores the nature of attention itself and the meaning we create by engaging deeply with what we do, who we’re with, and where we are. |
