Grand River - Temporary / ML Buch - Live set

Returning to Editions Mego for her latest release of the same name, Grand River presents the world premiere of Temporary at the Tese dei Soppalchi. Placing the guitar at the centre of the performance, the music unfolds through melodic synth-and-guitar pieces shaped by post-metal influences. Expansive harmonic textures, growing melodic lines and a carefully calibrated dynamic range create a language that moves between ambient and contemporary composition. Written in the aftermath of personal loss, Temporary reflects on impermanence, tracing shifting states between memory and the present, attachment and release, holding on and letting go.

Striking motifs and a close attention to spatial and timbral detail define ML Buch’s live performance at the Biennale Musica 2026. The raw musical material is created through playing and assembling in order to trigger what Buch describes as “random magic”. Strong melodies recur throughout, whether in songs or instrumental pieces, bringing together the playful and the uncanny with remarkable clarity.
